High Accuracy Quartz, rated to +/-5spy |
A Seiko Superior Twin Quartz watch from 1978. This features the high-accuracy caliber 9983, rated to +/- 5 seconds per year. This is one of Seiko's finest movements, developed during the height of the Quartz revolution. The case is Cap Gold with fine textured finish on top of stainless steel with a cabochon crown, and has an after-market crocodile leather strap fitted.
The case is in reasonable vintage condition commensurate with 45 years of age. There are some signs of use with a few light scratches and dings to the base/bezel, though generally it is a nice condition for its age. The are no visible scratches on the crystal. The watch is supplied in a period Seiko box. This Cap Gold -8020 cased model is less common than the stainless steel -8000 case model. The watch has a Japanese engraving celebrating a 20 year work anniversary. The watch features 9983 Superior movement with serial number 001452.
